This work, Nine Books of Memorable Deeds and Sayings, was written around A.D. 30. It is a miscellany of anecdotes about a variety of subjects and was especially important as a source for writers and orators. Elzevir is the name of a celebrated family of Dutch booksellers, publishers, and printers of the 17th and early 18th centuries.
