STATUE OF AUGUSTINE MONK IN BAROQUE STYLE:

Statue of an Augustine monk in a black habit with an open book in his right hand ( with the rule of Saint Augustine). His head with a tonsure. His body in a twisted pose and resting on a base with carving of floral patterns in rococo style. In his left hand, the monk used to have some symbol that is lost. Original polychromy; the eyes of the smiling saint are made of glass. Made around 1760-1780 in Spain or Portugal.

CONDITION: Overall in good condition. Some cracks and traces of wear. The habit might have been repainted. One of the fingers in the left hand of the saint is replaced. Some damages in the base due to woodworm. (treated)
